Monster Within

“Monster within”

Real Estate business can really be exciting and most rewarding profession. I have grown as a successful financial business magnet and I have created an empire at this very young age.

It was tough taking down my rival who has been in this profession for several years and like many say, all good things must come to an end and his reign of power had to end. Being shrewd, cunning is part of being a successful person and there is no shame in that.

I recently had to travel to a remote place called Vattalawadi, about 85 K.M from Chennai. I am going to complete this land deal for a foreign client and if the news spread across town the selling rate for this place will sour in no time. I had to come to this place and talk to the sellers personally to keep the deal as discreet as possible.

At around 5 am, I noticed a small boy selling milk in his cycle. It was still dark and he bumped into my rear end of the car and spilled all the milk from the can he was carrying. I immediately rushed to him and checked if he was all right. Apart from the minor lacerations on his knee he was perfectly fine and he started wailing like a new born. I was absolutely clueless to help him out when he was crying so loud and he was drawing attention to me. I used the best trick that I could think of – I offered him 100 rs. Well I was happy that he stopped crying but he refused to take the money.

That young boy had the determination and had the courage to tell me that he didn’t deserve the money and it was his fault that he spilt the milk. I pitied him and he was right to decline the offer. I desperately wanted to help him out and he told me that I could have a haircut in the saloon where he works and I can pay him then.

I had no intention of getting my hair cut in a cheap dingy place but the boy had given me no choice. I reluctantly agreed to him and told him that I will be meeting him in another few hours.

A Street of dilapidated tenements was all I could see from my car and I had not expected anything better. As soon as I entered the barber shop, I heard the owner of the shop abusing the boy and slapping him hard on his cheek over and over again.

I never like to involve myself into others business but the boy looked under nourished and I could not stand a hefty looking man beating the hell out of the boy.

I asked the owner to stop this cruelty and asked him the reason for his ill temper. He told me about the boy’s mother was not paying the mortgage loan for some time and demanded his child to go to a school.

I called the boy outside the shop and asked him to tell me the reasons for these miserable conditions his parents have got him into.

I learnt that his name is Gautham and his father passed away when he was very small. He had two younger brothers and his mother works at the incense stick factory. I was about to listen to the most painful story I ever heard and for some strange reasons I felt that I needed to hear his story.

Gautham’s dad was a spendthrift and spent all his savings extravagantly before he found himself amongst, a group of people threatening him and his family and demanding their money which he had borrowed several months back. He resorted to suicide and he left a note to his family saying that “Be brave like you father”. It was sad to hear that the government had denied the family, the relief fund which they normally offer to the family in case of the accidents.

Gautham’s mother had to sell their house and jewellery to pay the loan and found themselves in a difficult situation as both their families refused to help them out.

Gautham was 13 yrs old and his siblings were six years and three years old. His mother worked as a maid from morning 6 to 10 am and then went to the factory from 1030 to 7 pm. Their everyday problem had escalated to new levels and she had several mouths to feed but did not have income to run a family. The eldest being Gautham had to drop out of school to start working and the mother made it a habit to skip breakfast and dinner to feed the kids.

There were several men who tried to take advantage of her and had offered handsome money for her being their mistress. She was a brave woman and she constantly fought with all those insensitive people.
I was surprised to learn that the small boy had to endure such harshness of the world and yet tried to live as an honest human being. Every person has a threshold limit and I sincerely hope the mother doesn’t succumb to her harsh realities and deny the children of the true values to grow up to be a better person.
The world is changing every day. We appreciate the civilization, the modern age’s benefit and the science making progress in a day to day life for the betterment of the human lives. But we fail to see that the present generation is disabled in body, perverted in mind, bloodied in intellect, their irresponsible off springs carrying forward the wrong values.

School is a place where good values and education is imparted to everyone without being bias but sad part is that several children like Gautham, never make it to schools to gain wisdom and never learn to take their life in their own hands. They don’t even try becoming rich because not only their fathers but also their grandfathers leave them a pile of debt and never really free them from the bondage.

The schools are running like a corporate office where financial gains are on the priority list. Government schools and colleges have enormous funding and best minds are invested to nurture the young minds but there aren’t teachers to teach the kids and they make profit in selling the kids uniforms and mid day meals to earn their living.

Hospitals are another business organisation where there is treatment for almost all the disease if you happen to be rich.
Government hospitals find themselves to be deserted almost every single day. Unless there is an inspection by a higher officials not many turn up to treat the sick.

We are religiously celebrating our freedom year after year but the real bond is never broken. All of us are tied to the iron chains and find the blood oozing out from the wounds created by these chains.
We are smart enough to question the role of government and never care to realise it is we who have created the monster.

It is predicted that an average age of people in India is 29 in the year 2020 and it is the youth’s responsibility to make this country a developed nation. I do not believe in brain drain and lack of opportunity. After all it is you who is ultimately responsible for your family and your country.
Corruption and poverty are not the nation’s pride and treasure.
We embrace science and technology and I only urge to include good values as well.

“ There is no end in a circle of life”

“There is no end in a circle of life”

It does feel wrong, most of the times, when you witness ill-treatment of an elder person and you are ashamed of yourself for the simple reason like – you cannot help the person.

This is a true story involving a retired professor and his ugly off springs.

I accompanied my neighbour to visit their relative, who was hospitalised for complications of diabetes. His toe was amputated and in past 12 months he had managed to lose 5 digits. Amputation is the removal of a body extremity by trauma or surgery. In this case it was a surgery and as a surgical measure, it was carried out to ease the pain and the disease process in the affected limb, gangrene.

None of his family members were supportive and I suppose they were fed up of having to take care of this elder person.

I wondered what that person must have thought when he got married to that lady who refused to stand by his side during the recovery period and instead chose to stay with her elder son at Pune. It’s funny when I come across the line “I will stand by your side through thick and thin”, I hope I got that right but after 60 yrs of marriage life, who on earth would have expected his wife to treat him like a “door mat” and his sons to treat him like a “donkey” who carries all the burden and is less rewarded for its kind action.

This gentleman was a professor in an esteemed government university. Right from the beginning he got it all wrong about his life. He had lost everything in life and most importantly his self respect a long time ago. He was just a mere lifeless person whose soul was ripped out by his beloved wife and his hideous off springs. He was treated so bad that in spite of holding a respectable place in the society, he managed to be treated like a joke by every single person.

His income was directly siphoned from his account by his immediate family and he was given nothing for himself. This old man, worked very hard day in and day out. Well, I can think of a similarity with parasite and host relationship and I am certain that I am not wrong - he was reduced to nothing. His plight was so pathetic that in his “good old days” he used to beg his peon to get him a cup of tea as he used to skip his lunch. Well, skipping lunch wasn’t a voluntary action. He was denied of his lunch box because his wife used to wake up late and had taken least interest in his health.

There were occasions where, he used to go to his neighbours and relatives houses, so that he can have a meal without having to pay for it.

It is a pity that a college professor had to go through such ordeal, in spite of working hard and earning his income by doing something very sacred – imparting knowledge. It seems they had a pet at his house and the dog was treated well. The dog got its timey food and great care was given to the dog. How could his family members, spend money on a pet but not on their father who was a professor and worked hard his entire life to raise three sons, who happen to be well off now considering the fact that all of his sons have got a decent house on their own at Bangalore and got cars for their conveyance.

Even in our Hindu culture we place our Gurus, before the almighty but why didn’t his wife treat him with respect and why did he fail to earn his sons respect?

It was shocking to hear that, after his retirement, he gave all earnings to his sons and wife and he kept nothing for himself. He was as it is, treated like a street dog and after his retirement he was pushed to an extent where he had to work in various places to earn his living. His pension money was religiously taken away from him but he continued to work and he never minded doing menial jobs even after serving as a professor for a long time and the “parasites” kept multiplying.

I looked into his eyes and I realised that the man was hollow. I honestly felt that I was looking into the eyes of a person who’s got no desires to live. I was immediately taken over by the strangest feeling I ever had, it was a complete blank, absolutely nothing, and a person was a hopeless soul, rather soulless person who once cared for his family and probably himself. He did look disturbed and he expressed his far relatives- my neighbour, that he expects a peaceful death.

He was discharged from the hospital and was advised not to stand on his own and never to walk again. He had no one to take care of him as his family refused to take care of him.

He left his house on his own and stayed at a lodge for a day or so and came to visit his relatives who live far away. When, he learnt that his relatives weren’t at home because they had gone to attend a funeral, he decided to return to his house. Around this time, he was in enormous pain and he insisted that he visits his relative and for some reasons he disliked staying with his family. Well, family is a wonderful thing, all of us are taught at our kindergarten that family is where parents and children live and it will be dishonouring him, if any one says that it’s wrong for him to walk out of his family, something which he should have done it long time ago.

When he finally reached his relatives house, they found him in a miserable condition and immediately phoned his family about his situation. His relatives were kind enough to arrange a cab for him instead of sending him on a bus as advised by his family members. On his way back he died in the car. The driver finally reached his house and was shocked to know that his sons refused to take the body inside the house for his last rites. The driver, with the help of a stranger took the body inside the house and spent most horrifying time of his life. There was no one to cry, his family members returned to do whatever they were doing in spite of having the head of the family lying dead in their courtyard. The driver, explained the relatives of the situation at the house and he confessed that it was an excruciating experience in his life.

It is considered a sin not to perform the last rites for the dead person in our Hindu culture and I consider as a crime not to take care of your own father or husband after all his hard work. It is a painful thing to blog this incident because I met this old man three weeks ago and he died last week. Some say that, this is the best thing that could happen to this man and I say that everything is futile in life if you die because you have nothing else to do.

I wish the man rests in peace. I am aware that am being very optimistic but if he doesn’t rest in peace at least he should haunt his family.

Great men

Like any other day, my day started out to be boring as i had nothing to look forward today.
I have been crazy over past few days because of the delay in joining my assigned vessel. I was so determined to have a different day and it so happened my friend Abhishek Mishra, was in town giving his SSB Examination at Bangalore, near the Manipal centre.

We met up after nine god damn years. Time does fly and i never imagined it can fly so fast.
Mostly what do all guys talk about when they hang out after such a long break or even if they are meeting up every single day- our favorite topic GALS.

After the endless topics about the heavenly creatures, roaming so freely on earth we came to our important discussion - Why army?

My amigo was always interested in joining army, if am not mistaken since his childhood. I was so proud that my friend is joining army to serve our country and am sure deep down every Indian wants to do the same and only a meager quantity make it to that level.

I was so touched for a simple act of his which has changed the way i look at things. While on our way back he bent down and picked up an Indian flag (the tiny ones where all the school kids carry with them on I-day) on the road.
Well i was instantly ashamed for not noticing the Indian flag, fallen on the ground. I even wondered, even if I would have noticed this before my friend did, would I have picked up the flag?

I have realized that, its not just on August 15th or on January 26th we have to be patriotic, we need to be a true Indian every single day.
As usual, i was complaining about the issues and i expressed my helplessness in not being successful in clearing the NDA or AFMC exams to serve my mother land and instead am in merchant navy serving myself.
To my surprise, Abhishek told me that it does not matter if I am in the defense or not. All it matters is that if a person is able to support his family and himself is such a great thing for our country.
Wow! true words from a great man and am truly honoured to have known such a humble human being. God I wish, I was serving my country.

I never thought of serving our country in his perspective and all it counts is the little you do is much more sufficient for our country.
Lets all take steps to be as helpful as possible.

Stranger!

It was 3 am, when I was woken up by Nisha. It was completely dark, in spite of the cold weather outside,

I could sense that she was sweating a lot and was gasping for air. I immediately took her by the window and opened the window. It was a cloudless night and the moonlight flooded the room. I could see how beautiful she looked at that dim light. My only way to reassure her was to hold her hand because I was speech less.

She looked incredibly sweet but I soon realised that the looks are deceiving.

Something wasn’t right at that moment and the pain medication had number my sensation.

She placed her hand near my chest and looked disturbed. She asked to me change the bandage and I soon realised that I was bleeding profusely but hadn’t felt anything.

Immediately after she changed my bandage dressing, she told me that she was ready and she trusted me enough to tell the truth about her past. Which were the reasons, for her nightmares every single day.

I was thirsty and could find no water in the room. I wanted to call the room service but she insisted not to do so.

She began sobbing and like always made me felt guilty as though it was my fault.

After a while she began telling her story.................

400 yr old statue

Nandi
Lord Krishna

Goddess Annapurneshwari

Recently, my mom n i were walking in the streets for shopping groceries.
Mom suddenly remembered that there were statues considered to be as old as 600 yrs found during the construction work of a temple. I was intrigued by something so fascinating which dates back so early.

Well, i just went there to find out if the news was true or not.
Wel this temple is at Kote Anjaneya temple in KR Puram police station limits.
Meantime, archeological department are expected to confirm the rumours.
The idols look astonishing and very rich in the art work. It is surely considered atleast 4 centuries old.

Funny how they happen to discover these idols. the BWSS workers were layin new pipeline to Kote Anjaneya tepmle. It is claimed that the idols belong to an old rundown temple situated near the Venkateshwara Temple of the Vijayanagar dynasty. Immediately after noticing the idols, the BWSSB workers told the residents of their discovery, who then informed the tahsildar.
The residents consider the discovery to be auspicious as a new temple is under construction just a few metres from the place were the idols have been unearthed.

Wel the pictures are exclusive and am sure they will all make a big fuzz to take pictures of staues so old and considered to be special.

I just wish gods bless the KR Puram community and do somethin about the development of GH hospital which will benefit hundreds of people who live below poverty line!

Fear

Evey man fears in his life. The brave men r those who wear the mask to hide the fear frm others. I wish i had some option to wear somethin of that sort n pretend nuthin has happened.
Its hard to be hypothetical always, we draw conclusions based on real facts of life, we change according to the situation incase if we dont wanna change then we change the situation. Nevertheless change is inevitable.
Is fear a good quality to posses or is it just a sign of mere weakness? I suppose it works out both ways, ultimately its ur option to choose the way u wanna look at it.
Most of the things can be attributed to fear, we become so succesful in life or such a failures in life cuz of doin rite things at rite time or jus the opposite in respective cases.
Is it that difficult to use certain qualities which are termed as negative qualities to come up in life? Wel, i kinda feel its ur perspective to handle things and watever the outcome is,we got to have courage to stand upto it n face it.
I FEAR FOR MANY THINGS IN THE WORLD N THATS CUZ I VALUE THEM ALL. M ANSWERABLE TO NO ONE BUT TO MYSELF. WEN UR LOVED ONES R UR CLOSE FRNDS QUESTION U SOMETHIN WHICH U DONT HAVE A READY MADE ANSWER THEN U FEAR ABT UR REPUTATION IN THEM! AT THE END OF THE DAY ITS ABT U N U NEED TO HAVE A STRONG CALIBRE TO FACE ANYTHING AS A CONSEQUENCE OF UR ACT.
